Head/Neck Imaging
Head and neck imaging (ENT) is a recognized discipline/subspecialty of diagnostic radiology. In the purview of the ENT radiologist is the anatomy from the clavicles through the skull base. The Tower radiologists are fellowship trained in ENT radiology; some are authorities in this arena with publications that serve as a reference for radiologists nationwide.
Most head and neck imaging procedures require state-of-the-art, high resolution, cross-sectional CT and MRI scans. Tower Imaging provides the very latest, up-to-date hardware and software available. To image these detailed anatomic areas we routinely use high-resolution multi-detector CT and thin section/volume MRI.
CT and MRI studies include:
- Cranial nerves
- Orbits and optic pathway
- Lacrimal system
- Temporal bone imagingthe mastoids, middle ears/ossicles and inner ear
- Temporomandibular joints(TMJ)
- Paranasal sinuses
- Salivary glands
- Oral cavity/tongue
- Larynx/nasopharynx
- Thyroid gland
- Cervical Lymph nodes
Special procedures:
- Contrast evaluation of the lacrimal drainage system
- Sialography
- Intrathecal contrast study for cerebrospinal fluid leakage: for otorrhea and rhinorrhea
- Percutaneous image-guided biopsy
