Interventional

Interventional radiology is a highly specialized field within radiology in which minimally invasive techniques and image guidance are used in treating patients. Tower Imaging has a long history of excellence with regard to vascular and interventional radiology; our interventional radiologists continue to stay at the forefront of the field. Although digital subtraction angiography is utilized for the majority of these procedures, many interventions are performed using fluoroscopy, ultrasound and CT guidance. A wide range of catheter based treatments for peripheral vascular disease are performed such as angioplasty, stent placement and thrombolysis. Embolization is routinely used for the treatment of tumors and hemorrhage Venous access devices are routinely placed to help with infusion of chemotherapy in cancer patients. Tower Imaging interventionalists play an active role in the care of dialysis patients including angioplasty and thrombolysis of occluded shunts.

Procedures include:
  • Angiography
  • Angioplasty
  • Intravascular stent placement
  • Thrombolysis
  • Inferior vena cava filter placement
  • Embolization, including Uterine Artery Embolization
  • Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS)
  • Catheter placement for selective chemotherapy infusion
  • Percutaneous cholangiography
  • Percutaneous nephrostomy
  • Central line placement
  • Dialysis access intervention
  • Percutaneous image guided biopsy
  • Percutaneous gastrostomy
